Non-Certified Medical Assistant: Orthopedics

About the role

The role involves performing basic nursing skills and serving under the direction and supervision of the practice physician and/or registered nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms
• Prepares for physician visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs
• Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies
• Auxiliary assistance with and/or performance of exams, tests, and procedures
• Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed
• Auxiliary assistance during patient examinations and procedures
• Education of patients on follow-up expectations
• Maintains quality control testing logs as required
• Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition
• Auxiliary assistance with completion of medical documentation
• Auxiliary assistance with office administrative tasks such as answering phones, taking messages, performing office-related tasks (copying, printing, data entry), and assisting with depositing cash and other closing duties

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date

Qualifications

• Completion of healthcare education course work
• One (1) year of healthcare experience

• Ability to use and care of all equipment including printers, embossers, and computers
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients
• Ability to adapt to changing environments
• Ability to organize and prioritize work
