About the role

The role involves performing basic nursing skills and serving under the direction and supervision of the practice physician and/or registered nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms;
  • Prepares for physician visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs;
  • Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies;
  • Auxiliary in and/or performing exams, tests, and procedures;
  • Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed;
  • Auxiliary during patient examinations and procedures;
  • Edits patients on follow-up expectations;
  • Maintains quality control testing logs as required;
  • Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition;
  • Auxiliary in completing medical documentation;
  • Auxiliary in office administrative tasks such as answering phones, taking messages, performing office-related tasks (copying, printing, data entry, etc.), and assisting with depositing cash and other closing duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting;
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of healthcare education course work;
  • One (1) year of healthcare experience.

Physical Requirements

  • MEDIUM WORK - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly).
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach and be capable of normal rotation, standing and walking for an 8-12 hour shift.

Working Environment

  • Working closely with others.
  • Working protracted or irregular hours.
  • Working around biohazards.
  • Working around infectious diseases.
  • Working with hands in water.
  • May be required to travel between facilities.

Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to use and care of all equipment including printers, embossers, and computers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments.
  • Ability to work in both an independent and team setting.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
