Non CDL Driver

About the role

A Non-CDL Transportation Specialist bus driver operates a van or bus over designated routes, transporting school pupils or clients—including students with disabilities—to and from school or other locations. Drivers may also transport clients on private charter trips and work with loud or disruptive clients.

Responsibilities

• Drive a minivan daily over designated routes, adhering to time schedules and loading/unloading pupils or clients at specified locations.
• Transport school pupils and teachers on school activity trips.
• Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle to ensure proper working order.
• Conduct a child check immediately after each run.
• Maintain order and discipline among passengers.
• Follow company policies for pupil/client management and interactions with parents, teachers, guardians, medical practitioners, and the public.
• Verify and update route sheets with turn-by-turn directions, changes, or additional landmarks as requested by the Operations Manager or Dispatcher.
• Track route timing (e.g., total time en-route, time between stops, loading/unloading times) to improve route efficiency.
• Keep records and submit reports as required.
• Sweep, clean, and refuel vehicles; report mechanical deficiencies promptly.
• Instruct students on safe riding practices and perform evacuation drills as directed.

Requirements

• State-required driver’s license meeting company standards for driving record.
• Current report of Driver’s Physical Examination.
• Demonstrated proficiency in operating assigned vehicles, including equipment like wheelchair lifts and special needs safety vests, under all road and weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Minimum of 3 years of verifiable driving history.
• Clean driving record within the last 24–36 months.
• Completion of a comprehensive training program.
• Pre-employment background checks.
