About the role

The Nocturnist position at Memorial Hospital - Chattanooga involves providing comprehensive patient care during the overnight hours. You will diagnose, treat, and prescribe for a diverse adult inpatient population, manage acute changes in patient conditions, and collaborate with day-shift hospitalists, nurses, and other specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, treating, and prescribing for a diverse adult inpatient population under your care overnight.
  • Promptly evaluating new admissions and managing acute changes in patient conditions.
  • Ordering and interpreting necessary diagnostic tests to guide treatment during the night shift.
  • Collaborating effectively with day-shift hospitalists, nurses, and other specialists to ensure seamless transitions of care.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records, ensuring comprehensive documentation of care provided overnight.
  • Adhering to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety protocols, particularly those relevant to nocturnal care.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Ability to obtain an active medical license & DEA for Tennessee and Georgia
  • AHA BLS certification

Pay

The posted compensation range is $300,000 - $335,000/year, reflecting the reasonable estimate of what CommonSpirit Health might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

Schedule

This role offers a dedicated night schedule of 158 shifts (including 5 CME days), from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
