About the role
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking both a NOC Lead and a SOC Lead to support a company focused on cybersecurity operations, engineering, and compliance for the Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). This position is on-site in Manassas, VA and Washington, DC.
The NOC Lead will oversee enterprise network operations and infrastructure availability, while the SOC Lead will direct cybersecurity operations, threat detection, and incident response efforts. Responsibilities
NOC Lead
- Lead daily Network Operations Center (NOC) activities, ensuring 24/7 operational readiness and continuous availability of enterprise networks, systems, and infrastructure.
- Manage major incidents, service restoration efforts, escalations, root cause analysis, and adherence to SLA requirements.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop NOC analysts and engineers while managing shift operations, workload distribution, and operational procedures.
- Monitor and optimize enterprise network performance using industry-standard monitoring and management tools while coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
- Drive operational excellence through process improvements, reporting, automation initiatives, compliance efforts, and customer communication.
SOC Lead
- Lead and mentor the SOC team while ensuring 24/7 operational readiness and efficient day-to-day security operations.
- Direct the detection, analysis, investigation, and response to cybersecurity incidents, serving as the escalation point for high-priority threats.
- Oversee and optimize security technologies including SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and threat monitoring solutions.
- Analyze network traffic, system logs, and threat intelligence to identify risks, improve detection capabilities, and strengthen incident response processes.
- Collaborate with IT, engineering, and leadership teams to communicate cyber risks, protect critical assets, and ensure compliance with security best practices.
Required Qualifications
NOC Lead
- 5–10 years of experience in IT operations, network operations, systems administration, or NOC environments, including 2–5 years leading technical teams.
- Strong experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, firewalls, Cisco IOS-XE/NX-OS, Arista EOS, Spine/Leaf architecture, and WAN technologies.
- Experience with Windows and Linux environments, ITSM processes, and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Riverbed NetIM, Wireshark, Panorama/PAN-OS, Ansible, Tenable, and GEMS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Active Top Secret Clearance (investigation within the last 5 years) or DOE Q Clearance.
SOC Lead
- 10+ years of cybersecurity experience, including 4+ years leading a Security Operations Center (SOC) or security operations team.
- Strong experience with SIEM platforms, incident response, network defense, threat detection, vulnerability management, and security monitoring tools.
- Proven leadership, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to mentor teams and present technical findings to executive leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Active DOE Q Clearance or Top Secret Clearance.
Pay
- NOC Lead: $170,000 – $190,000 depending on experience
- SOC Lead: $150,000 – $170,000 depending on experience
