NNN Finance Credit Analyst
About the role
First Merchants Bank is seeking a NNN Finance Credit Analyst to join our team. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong ability to handle a variety of financial data, make informed decisions, and contribute to the bank's lending processes.
Responsibilities
- Acquire working knowledge of applicable bank credit policies and regulatory lending laws.
- Aid in the timely collection of customer financial information as needed.
- Analyze personal and business financial statements, tax returns, management prepared financials, and CPA prepared compilations, reviews, and audited statements.
- Spread and analyze loan data on new, renewal, and existing loans, including data from credit bureaus, other financial institutions, and collateral files.
- Make recommendations for loan structuring, including terms, amortization, loan conditions, and covenants.
- Prepare spreadsheets, credit memorandums, reports, summaries, and opinions.
- Determine the appropriate risk rating for credits at the time of loan origination and during annual reviews.
- Participate actively in loan committees, providing opinions on the credit and responding to questions as the financial analyst for the credit requested.
- Collaborate with participating banks to ensure accurate reporting and updating of credit information.
- Perform UCC, credit bureau, D&B, loss avoidance, and other credit/industry-specific investigations.
- Stay updated on current economic and industry events that could impact the bank's loan portfolio.
- Carry out other Credit and Credit Administration tasks as required.
- Adhere to confidentiality, ethics, and compliance policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
- Minimum of one (1) year of related analytical experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on Word and Excel.
- Exceptional financial analytical, business mathematical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, and tact in various professional settings.
- Experience working with commercial loans and/or analyzing financial statements.
Qualifications
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Comfortable making complex financial decisions and recommendations.
- Knowledge of commercial real estate lending practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis.
