NMDA Inspector Intermediate- Possible Career Development Opportunity

Department: New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) – Petroleum Standards Bureau

Location: NMSU satellite location, Northwest New Mexico area (San Juan and McKinley Counties)

About the role

The New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) supports the state’s agricultural and affiliated industries through food protection, marketplace regulation, global marketing, economic development, and natural resource management. This position may be filled at the NMDA Inspector Intermediate level or, if needed, underfilled as an NMDA Inspector Associate on a career development plan.

Responsibilities

• Perform fuel-quality sampling inspections
• Conduct small-volume, large-volume, and LPG meter inspections

Requirements

• Associate’s degree plus 4 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of relevant experience
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience approved by Human Resource Services
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license (must maintain)
• 50% travel required
• Direct contact or exposure to allergens (e.g., bees, peanuts, dust, animal feed) may occur

Working Conditions

• Constant exposure to unusual elements: extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, loud noises, and other hazardous conditions requiring safety precautions and protective equipment
• Considerable physical activity; physical work constitutes more than 70% of the job
• Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds

Pay

• Entry-level NMDA Inspector Intermediate: $53,165.80
• Entry-level NMDA Inspector Associate: $48,332.54
