FLSA Status: Exempt
Bargaining Unit Announcement: This is NOT a bargaining unit position with American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
Contingent Upon Funding: Contingent upon funding
Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

NMDA Inspector Intermediate - Possible Career Development Opportunity

• Working with the petroleum industry to establish regulatory compliance.
• Inspection activities of fuel quality sampling, small volume, large volume, and LPG meter inspections based out of Dona Ana County (Southwest New Mexico).
• Gain knowledge of all petroleum inspections and regulations.
• Develop relationships with industry, training and field reference materials.
• Work with other inspectors throughout the state to gain knowledge on all inspection procedures.
• Address equipment needs, as they arise, to ensure a safe work environment for all area staff.
• Participation in weights and measures events.
• Complete device inspections by maintaining an inspection area and other duties as assigned.
• Be well-versed in University and department policies and procedures.
• Manage their inspection area of responsibility.

Qualifications Required

• Education and Experience: Associate's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
• Required Certification/License: Equivalent Qualifications.
• This position may be underfilled as a NMDA Inspector, Associate on a career development plan if unable to fill at the NMDA Inspector, Intermediate.
• Minimum requirements for the associate level: Associate's degree plus 2 years relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services may be used to meet the minimum requirements.
• Preferred Qualifications: Special Certification/Licensure: A cover letter is required.

Minimum Education/Equivalency

• Minimum education/equivalency must be met per the posting.

Special Requirements

• 50% travel
• Must have and maintain a valid unrestricted driver’s license.
• Work may involve direct contact or exposure to allergens including but not limited to: bees, peanuts, dust, animal feed, etc.
