About the role
This position is nonexempt. This position reports to the Director of the Standardized Patient Program. This position starts at $18.49 per hour, depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the recruitment, orientation, training, and evaluation of standardized patients.
- Aid in monitoring standardized patient performances and providing feedback for improvement, including all aspects of case portrayal such as delivery of details, affect, and physical simulation.
- Aid in overseeing attendance and preparing/inventorying supplies for clinical education activities involving standardized patients.
- Administer and support standardized payments, including data entry and timely document submission.
- Aid in clinical room preparation, ordering supplies, restocking rooms, and setting up rooms.
- Aid in coordinating and communicating standardized patient schedules and reminders.
- Report standardized patient or student issues to the Director of the Standardized Patient Program and/or appropriate Course Director and/or the Chair of Clinical Medicine.
- Aid in the preparation of standardized patients.
- Communicate effectively and handle challenging or confidential matters with professionalism.
- Direct students to the right equipment and materials to supplement their education.
- Develop and maintain competence in operating and maintaining high-fidelity manikin controls and perform manikin training sessions when possible.
- Aid in simulation sessions to ensure a quality experience for all participants.
- Assist with ordering supplies for SIM and timesheet entering for outside session assistants.
- Aid in the pickup and storage of donated supplies from local clinics/hospitals.
- Look for opportunities to assist with current and upcoming events/sessions, proactively.
- Support student practice opportunities.
- Aid in student training for procedures and skills within the scope of training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

- Show detail orientation and have excellent office skills including typing and proofreading.
- Show excellent organizational, communication (written/oral), and interpersonal skills.

- Show a positive attitude and be a team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals.
- Show knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and patient management software.

- Be self-starter, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and take initiative to stay busy.
Requirements
- Regular, on-time attendance.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- College degree or 6 months of previous related experience and/or training;
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- CPR certification.
- Certified Medical Assistant.
Qualifications
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and patient management software.
