About the role

This position is nonexempt. This position reports to the Director of the Standardized Patient Program. This position starts at $18.49 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the recruitment, orientation, training, and evaluation of standardized patients.
  • Aid in monitoring standardized patient performances and providing feedback for improvement, including all aspects of case portrayal such as delivery of details, affect, and physical simulation.
  • Aid in overseeing attendance and preparing/inventorying supplies for clinical education activities involving standardized patients.
  • Administer and support standardized payments, including data entry and timely document submission.
  • Aid in clinical room preparation, ordering supplies, restocking rooms, and setting up rooms.
  • Aid in coordinating and communicating standardized patient schedules and reminders.
  • Report standardized patient or student issues to the Director of the Standardized Patient Program and/or appropriate Course Director and/or the Chair of Clinical Medicine.
  • Aid in the preparation of standardized patients.
  • Communicate effectively and handle challenging or confidential matters with professionalism.
  • Direct students to the right equipment and materials to supplement their education.
  • Develop and maintain competence in operating and maintaining high-fidelity manikin controls and perform manikin training sessions when possible.
  • Aid in simulation sessions to ensure a quality experience for all participants.
  • Assist with ordering supplies for SIM and timesheet entering for outside session assistants.
  • Aid in the pickup and storage of donated supplies from local clinics/hospitals.
  • Look for opportunities to assist with current and upcoming events/sessions, proactively.
  • Support student practice opportunities.
  • Aid in student training for procedures and skills within the scope of training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Prioritize, coordinate, multi-task, and demonstrate initiative.
  • Show detail orientation and have excellent office skills including typing and proofreading.
  • Show excellent organizational, communication (written/oral), and interpersonal skills.
  • Manage changing priorities, meet deadlines, work independently, and follow through on assignments with little direction.
  • Show a positive attitude and be a team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals.
  • Show knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and patient management software.
  • Act in a professional manner at all times.
  • Show highly organized skills and strong analytical abilities with attention to detail.
  • Be self-starter, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and take initiative to stay busy.

Requirements

  • Regular, on-time attendance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree or 6 months of previous related experience and/or training;
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • CPR certification.
  • Certified Medical Assistant.

Qualifications

Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and patient management software.
