About the role
Warehouse Associate 1 contributes to the efficient operation of the warehouse by providing labor support to the Branch Office. This position performs a range of general and specific warehouse tasks that can be easily learned on the job.
Responsibilities
- Receive, stock, assemble, stage, load, and unload products.
- Package finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling).
- Stage finished product for loading.
- Check purchase orders/work orders to ensure products are correctly assembled and ready for delivery.
- Verify the correct number of products are being assembled.
- Assist in inventory level maintenance and inventory counts.
- Load finished product onto trucks.
- Unload products from trucks, containers, and stock them in the designated area.
- Perform quality control to ensure no damaged products are sent out or stored.
- Operate pallet jack within standard operating procedures.
- Perform preventive maintenance on pallet jacks.
- Provide on-the-job training for new employees.
- Handle inventory movement into and out of controlled locations.
- Prepare customers’ orders for delivery.
- Provide fill-in support for other departments in the warehouse.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks under time constraints.
- Knowledge of warehouse principles, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
- Capability to follow rules for arranging tasks or actions in a specific order.
- Ability to lift heavy objects over 50 pounds, requiring considerable and strenuous physical exertion.
- Proficiency in operating material handler equipment.
- Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
- Physical strength, agility, dexterity, and comfort working at heights and in adverse climatic conditions.
- Positive work history with solid attendance.
- Availability to work extended hours, including evenings, nights, overtime, and weekends.
Working Conditions
- Some time may be spent in refrigerated (cooler and freezer) warehouse sections.
- Machinery operation requires safety equipment, including steel-toed boots.
- Typical workweek is Monday through Friday (standard 40 hours per week), but evening, night shift, overtime, and weekend hours are common in some branch offices.
