About the Role

Provides nursing support to the physician and direct nursing care to patients in an inpatient setting.

Qualifications

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice or a multi‑state LPN license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
  • State criminal background check and federal background check (if applicable) as required for regulated areas.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of clinical experience.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care according to the patient’s plan of care and instructions from the overseeing role.
  • Consult with the Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist for guidance in nursing care delivery.
  • Perform designated therapeutic procedures as needed.
  • Observe, record, and report patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress promptly.
  • Assist physicians and the overseeing role with examinations and procedures.
  • Contribute to nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data.
  • Monitor patient condition, document deviations from normal health status, and report findings.
  • Participate in developing the patient’s plan of care by providing data and helping identify priorities and measures to maintain comfort.
  • Assist with patient and family education and rehabilitation according to the teaching plan.
  • Document nursing interventions and responses, communicating with the health‑care team.
  • Administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulized, and/or MDI medications safely.
  • Obtain instruction and supervision from the overseeing role when implementing nursing techniques.
  • Complete annual education related to specialty accreditation as required, through CBLs, trainings, in‑services, and competency validation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move, stoop, reach, and position patients and equipment weighing 40 + lb on a daily basis.
  • Requires strength, stamina, and the ability to stand, walk, and carry patients or materials.

Working Environment

  • Protracted or irregular hours.
  • Exposure to biohazards, communicable diseases, possible toxins (radiological, chemical), and deceased individuals.
  • Work with hands in water and exposure to electrical hazards from patient‑care equipment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions and adapt to varying workloads and assignments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems used in physician offices and hospitals for accurate data capture.
  • Team‑oriented with strong organization, communication, and task‑prioritization abilities.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts.

Schedule

  • Night shift (United States).
  • Non‑exempt position.
