Essential Functions
- Monitors Quarter Deck for authorized entry of personnel and visitors.
- Checks required forms of identification and verify against vessel access list.
- Makes sound and security rounds throughout vessel following a predetermined schedule and prescribed route.
- Remains vigilant for any unusual conditions. Reports inconsistencies immediately to commanding officer.
- Maintains vessel machinery conditions. Ensures they are functioning and maintained in accordance with original equipment manufacturers recommendations.
- Protects government equipment and assets.
- Answers and responds appropriately to any alarm conditions such as fire or flooding.
- Makes vessel draft readings. Reads visual markings on vessel hull and compare those readings against previous records.
- Takes appropriate proactive measures to prevent flooding during watch.
- Aids other crew members to protect vessel against flooding.
- Assists vessel with getting underway and returning from sea.
- Physically removes the gangway from the vessel and casts off catch lines as directed.
- Performs Line Handler duties when the vessel gets underway or returns to port outside normal working hours.
- Maintains awareness of weather conditions, checks mooring lines, and adds as necessary.
- Placed ship on or offshore or generator power in accordance with engineering operating and sequencing procedures.
- The Night Watchman may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization and vessel.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
- Prior maritime, military, security or mechanical background preferred.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Preference will be given to Calista shareholders and their descendants and to spouses of Calista shareholders, and to shareholders of other corporations created pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, in accordance with Title 43 U.S. Code 1626(g).
