Responsibilities

• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment in accordance with company standards; ensure all safety features are operational before beginning route.
• Review assigned routes thoroughly prior to departure; be proactive in asking clarifying questions if the route or expectations are unclear.
• Complete assigned jobs within the allotted timeframe while maintaining expected quality and attention to detail.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently at all times, following all traffic laws, company safety procedures, and site-specific protocols; exercise additional caution during inclement weather or challenging site conditions.
• Handle materials safely and securely; apply correct procedures for material types and disposal sites.
• Report any equipment issues, malfunctions, near misses, crashes, or injuries within 30 minutes or as soon as safely possible; immediately escalate opportunities, work issues, or safety concerns to management.
• Maintain a professional attitude and appearance while representing the company on job sites or in public areas; communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients when needed.
• Accurately complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
• Respond appropriately to changes and challenges; identify and solve issues timely.
• Consistently report to work on time and as scheduled, with minimal unexcused absences; be present and prepared to work throughout assigned shifts, reliably adhering to start times, breaks, and end times.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1 year of DOT driving experience; waste & recycling services experience preferred.
• CDL-B license and DOT Medical Card.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Maintain an acceptable driving record and successfully pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check, background check, and drug screening in accordance with Company policy and applicable law.

Physical Requirements

• Work Environment & Exposure: Constant work outdoors with regular exposure to weather, elements, and traffic; occasional exposure to loud noise, dust/debris, and jarring conditions; limited exposure to chemicals.
• Physical Demands: Frequent sitting and walking/standing; occasional bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling; limited stair climbing and crawling; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs at varying heights, including overhead.
• Cognitive & Sensory Requirements: Continuous reading, screen use, mental focus, and hand-eye coordination throughout the workday.
• Equipment & Tools: Operation of specialized equipment (e.g., mechanical broom sweeper) and use of hand controls, foot controls, and fine motor skills.
• Safety & Protective Gear: Required use of appropriate PPE, including high-visibility apparel, eye, ear, hand, foot, head, lung, and skin protection.
