About the role
This position offers a rotating schedule of 7 nights on, 7 nights off, allowing you to work 26 out of 52 weeks in a year. The Transportation Coordinator manages and supports a fleet of professional drivers during night and weekend operations, ensuring drivers have the knowledge and skills to safely and efficiently provide industry-leading service to customers while fostering driver relationships for career growth and longevity.
Responsibilities
- Continuously manage and support 100-250 professional drivers during night and weekend hours.
- Use professional verbal and written communication via technologies such as Outlook, in-cab messaging, and phone systems.
- Develop efficient and creative plans to ensure safe and on-time service for customers and accommodate drivers’ prescheduled time off.
- Coach drivers through concerns, including hours of service, directions, pay and productivity, swaps, permits, lumpers, advances, and equipment needs.
- Facilitate professional interdepartmental communications to collaborate on company goals.
- Make cost-effective decisions aligned with company goals and expectations.
- Troubleshoot daily challenges for both customers and professional drivers.
- Maintain prompt attendance for all scheduled shifts.
- Uphold confidentiality due to exposure to medical and payroll information.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the transportation industry and terminology, typically gained through practical experience and on-the-job training.
- Conflict and personnel management skills.
- Knowledge of North American geography.
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems.
- Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner.
Qualifications
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or equivalent experience. Previous transportation or management experience is a plus.
