About the role
As our 3rd Shift Receiving Supervisor, you'll lead warehouse operations while ensuring products are received safely, accurately, and efficiently at our Verona Road Distribution Center in Madison, Wisconsin. This role offers the opportunity to lead one of the most critical functions in our warehouse, implement new warehouse technology, and develop a high-performing team.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of warehouse associates.
- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and respect.
- Coordinate daily receiving activities and inbound freight.
- Monitor productivity and labor efficiency.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through proper receiving procedures.
- Work closely with Inventory Control, Transportation, Purchasing, and Operations.
- Train and mentor employees while building future leaders.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Support our Warehouse Management System (WMS) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain food safety, OSHA, and company compliance standards.
- Direct and control all functions within the facility by managing the workforce and ensuring a highly productive environment.
- Mentor team members through on-the-job training and coaching.
- Provide training and evaluation to equipment operators.
- Ensure the safety of employees while working.
- Handle employee relations and ensure proper disciplinary steps are taken as needed.
- Respond to customers’ inquiries about their orders and ensure 100% customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse.
- Communicate production details to the Director of Warehousing and other shift leaders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Warehousing.
Requirements
- Previous warehouse leadership or supervisory experience.
- Receiving, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or grocery warehouse experience preferred.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer proficiency; Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience is a plus.
- Forklift experience is preferred.
- High school graduate or equivalent with excellent math skills.
- 3 years of related experience.
- Experience working with powered industrial equipment.
- D.O.T. and Logistics experience preferred.
- Experience in identifying operational issues, recommending, and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships within a team.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of warehouse shipping and receiving functions.
- Knowledge of and skill in using computer software, including Microsoft Office suite.
- Skill in operating various office equipment, such as personal computer, calculator, fax, and copy machine.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
