Night Shift Supervisor – Houston Shuttle Operations

About the Role

Road & Rail Services is seeking an experienced Night Shift Supervisor to lead associates performing vehicle shuttle and yard operations in Houston. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is comfortable working outdoors, managing production goals, and staying visible in the operation. The ideal candidate will have warehouse or high-volume operations experience and at least two years of supervisory experience. You will spend much of your shift in the work area—training employees, monitoring performance, addressing safety concerns, checking work quality, and helping the team meet daily customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and support associates performing vehicle shuttle functions
  • Maintain a safe work environment and address unsafe conditions immediately
  • Ensure compliance with company, customer, OSHA, EPA, FRA, and DOT requirements
  • Conduct safety training and reinforce proper work practices
  • Report and document accidents, injuries, and equipment damage promptly
  • Train employees on job responsibilities, work instructions, quality procedures, and site SOPs
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, work quality, and employee performance
  • Motivate the team to meet operational and production goals safely
  • Maintain staffing and operational readiness throughout the night shift
  • Investigate service or equipment issues and help prevent repeat occurrences
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and workflow
  • Communicate clearly with associates, management, and the customer
  • Treat employees fairly and respectfully while consistently enforcing company policies

Qualifications

  • Warehouse, Distribution, Manufacturing, Logistics, Or Similar Operational Experience Required
  • At least two years of supervisory or team-lead experience
  • Experience training, coaching, and holding employees accountable
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality
  • Comfortable leading employees in an outdoor, fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, email, and internet-based systems
  • Ability to manage several priorities and make sound decisions independently
  • Valid state driver's license when required to operate company equipment
  • Ability to satisfy all applicable conditions-of-employment requirements
  • Availability to work the assigned night-shift schedule

Physical and Work Environment

  • Work outdoors in heat, cold, dust, rain, and noisy conditions
  • Walk and stand for extended periods on uneven surfaces
  • Bend, twist, crouch, and perform other active movements throughout the shift
  • Occasionally lift up to 60 pounds, including above shoulder level
  • Hear and follow verbal safety instructions
  • Communicate by telephone and two-way radio
  • Enter, review, and update information using a computer
  • Properly wear all required personal protective equipment
