Description
The Production Supervisor oversees the scheduling, coordination, and training of employees, ensuring proper workflow, quality control, and adherence to safety protocols. Reporting to the Production Manager, they manage daily production operations, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain a safe, efficient work environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Schedule and assign personnel, monitor progress, and revise schedules as needed.
- Communicate job expectations, coach, counsel, and discipline employees.
- Develop and maintain training programs to ensure all personnel have the necessary skills.
- Coordinate daily production floor activities and delegate assignments.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel.
- Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through change management and best practices.
- Monitor and manage schedule with work start, break, and stop times.
- Ensure equipment and tools are in good working order and available for use.
- Monitor and enforce cell phone prohibition on the production floor.
- Implement manufacturing processes and procedures for new products and customers.
Accountability
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced high-volume environment with little direction.
- Show strong supervisory and management skills, including leadership and training abilities.
- Have a strong knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations.
Minimum Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 51 to 75 lbs. occasionally, and/or 31 to 45 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 16 to 22 pounds of force constantly.
- Ability to see (naturally or with correction).
- Ability to use arms and hands to reach, handle or manipulate and install heavy objects and materials.
- Ability to balance, kneel, squat, crouch, bend, lean, stand, walk, climb, dig, backfill and compact.
Primary Career Level
- Advanced Microsoft Office 2010 and computer skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of lean principals, raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Strong knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing production.
