Night Shift Production Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and accountability for all night shift production personnel.
  • Supervise daily operations across Assembly, Sheet Metal, Welding, and Ready-to-Build departments.
  • Ensure production schedules, quality standards, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and production output to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Promote and enforce a safe work environment while ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Cook up with the Day Shift Production Managers to communicate production status, priorities, staffing concerns, quality issues, and operational needs.
  • Conduct shift handoff meetings to ensure continuity between shifts.
  • Train, coach, develop, and evaluate team members to build a high-performing workforce.
  • Address employee performance concerns and recognize outstanding performance.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Production Control and Purchasing teams to resolve production issues and minimize downtime.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Maintain accurate production records, reports, and shift documentation.
  • Support company initiatives focused on continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED required; technical degree or additional manufacturing education preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience supervising multiple production areas such as assembly, fabrication, sheet metal, welding, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and employee development skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with production reporting systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in HVAC, air handler, custom equipment, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with welding, sheet metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly processes.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily works on the manufacturing floor in a production environment.
  • Regular exposure to fabrication, welding, assembly, and material handling operations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and work around manufacturing equipment.
