Position Summary
Harper Industries is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Laser & Plasma Operator to support our manufacturing team on night shift. This role is responsible for operating CNC laser and plasma equipment, including TRUMPF laser systems, to produce high-quality parts, while also assisting in other areas of the fabrication department as needed. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate CNC laser and/or plasma cutting equipment, including TRUMPF laser systems, to meet quality and production standards
- Set up machines, load materials, and monitor operations based on job specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production instructions
- Perform in-process and final quality checks using measuring tools such as calipers and tape measures
- Handle raw materials and finished parts, including sorting, stacking, and organizing
- Clean, deburr, and prepare parts for downstream processes
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and promptly report equipment issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all company safety procedures and properly utilize required PPE
- Operate a forklift as needed (training/certification provided if necessary)
- Support team objectives and production goals, including overtime as Required

Qualifications
- Previous experience operating CNC laser or plasma equipment preferred
- Experience with fabrication equipment is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficiency with basic measuring tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and over 50 lbs with assistance (team lift or mechanical aid) on a frequent basis
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and reaching throughout the shift
- Frequent use of hands for gripping, handling materials, and operating machinery and controls
- Strong visual ability, including close vision and depth perception for inspecting parts and operating equipment
- Adequate hearing ability to communicate effectively and maintain awareness of equipment and forklift traffic
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (as needed)
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/fabrication environment with exposure to varying temperatures depending on season and work area
- Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and moving mechanical equipment
- Fast-paced production environment with frequent equipment and material movement
- Regular interaction with multiple departments requiring coordination and communication
- Work may involve handling raw materials with sharp edges or surfaces requiring caution
- Requires effective communication both in person and, when needed, via computer systems
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company safety policies, including company-provided safety glasses, hearing protection, and employee-provided steel-toe footwear; additional *Note: The last bullet point is cut off and should ideally be completed or clarified.
