About the role

The Night Shift Area Resident Manager will report to the Principal Construction Inspector and work in conjunction with the Roadway Area Resident Manager Lead. The role's scope includes projects within the CTA, including all Terminals, Landside areas (such as Parking Structures), and Airside areas (AOA Apron and Gates). Responsibilities focus on overall Area Shutdown Request (ASR) compliance and proper execution of ASRs at CTA Roadways, Parking Structures, CUP, Terminals, and AOA Apron and Gate Areas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Nightly Huddle at 2330 hrs with Airport Operations support.
  • Distribute the Roadway Bulletin, Terminal Bulletin, and Daily Roadway Map to attendees of the Nightly Huddle.
  • Perform "Site Checks" at each location within the CTA, Terminals, and AOA locations with active construction activities, including:
    • Checking the number of personnel deployed.
    • Verifying the correct ASR is "in hand" with the Project Superintendent and posted on the dash of all vehicles.
    • Verifying correct barricading and signage is in place per approved ASR.
    • Verifying all scheduled deliveries are contained within the approved ASR and coordinated at Nightly Huddle.
    • Communicating with the Safety and Inspection team regarding compliance of scheduled work.
  • Contact LAWA Airport Police and Airport Operations to remove vehicles or equipment parked curbside without the correct paperwork or "No Cite / No Tow" approval.
  • Take photos of each deployed project, capturing vehicle and equipment deployment, active construction, traffic and passenger movement, and important barricades and signage. Label photos with descriptions and date/time stamps.
  • Produce a Nightly Report with a written narrative and photographic component, including personnel count, late flight information, and other relevant documents. Post reports to the CALMSHARE site, save on the V Drive, and distribute to a predetermined stakeholder list.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and schedule for all active projects (LAWA CIP, Maintenance, Airline, Concessionaire, TSA, etc.) within the CTA, Terminals, and AOA locations.
  • Ensure all construction in public areas has appropriate barricades and signage as per the approved ASR. Work with contractors to correct deficiencies and report needs to the CALM Sign Shop Manager.
  • Collaborate with The Development Group (TDG), Facilities Maintenance Group (FMUG), Airport Operations (OPS), TSA, Information Technology Group (IMTG), TDG Safety/Inspections, and LAWA Airport Police Traffic Officers to develop protocols for orderly shutdowns with minimal disruption.
  • Meet regularly with the CALM Area Resident Manager - Lead to make recommendations on procedures, protocols, and staffing.
  • Develop appropriate tracking and record-keeping tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 20 years of Construction Management field experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Airport experience or 5 years of experience in other critical environment facilities.
  • Ability to assume additional responsibilities beyond the outlined role.
  • Proven accuracy, reliability, priority setting, and completeness in job accomplishment.
  • Demonstrated planning, controlling, organizing, and leadership skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to work under pressure on high-profile, complicated assignments.
  • Ability to understand design and construction intent of projects.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Access, Teams).
  • Proficiency in Adobe software (Acrobat, InDesign).
  • Able to review and edit documents in Bluebeam.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and instructions.

Pay

$165,000 to $176,000 per year (depending on qualifications).
