About the role
The Night Operations Assistant (NOA) provides overnight support for residence hall operations, serving as the primary staff presence during late-night hours. This role is responsible for monitoring building access, maintaining front desk operations, responding to safety and community concerns, and ensuring compliance with University Housing policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain front desk operations and monitor building access
- Respond to safety and community concerns
- Ensure compliance with University Housing policies and procedures
- Collaborate with on-call staff and campus partners to address incidents, escalate concerns, and support a safe and secure residential environment
- Document overnight activity
- Assist residents with questions or concerns
- Connect students to appropriate campus resources when needed
Requirements
- Sitting at workstation for extended periods of time
- Repetitive motions typical of desk work (sitting/bending/twisting/pulling/typing)
- Prolonged screen time
- Lifting/carrying/pulling objects up to 30lbs
- Shift: Wed – Sun 12:00am-8:00am; 37.5 Hours/Week
Qualifications
- Some college experience preferred
- Prior experience in customer service, residence life, security, or related fields, along with experience in incident documentation, policy enforcement, and independent work environments, is strongly preferred
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Sound judgment and decision-making in fast-paced or high-pressure environments
- Attention to detail and situational awareness
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Time management and ability to work independently during overnight hours
- Basic technology skills (e.g., reporting systems, email, access control systems)
Benefits
This position is a seasonal appointment that runs from August through May each academic year and does not require annual reapplication, contingent upon satisfactory job performance and continued operational need.
