Night Hostler

About the role

The primary responsibility of this role is to shuttle tractor trailers between the trailer yard and the main warehouse to support daily operations. The shift typically concludes around 3:00 AM or once all assigned work is completed.

Responsibilities

• Moves tractor trailers to/from loading docks and parks them in designated areas safely and in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring accurate and timely responses to questions.
• Performs inspections and moves trailers safely following DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies.
• Fuels, moves, and parks tractors and trailers to the docks.
• Transports tractor trailers to offsite maintenance and/or inspection facilities, requiring local city driving.
• Secures trucks, trailers, and equipment always.
• Completes all required documentation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid CDL Class A license required.
• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent (6+ months driving experience may be considered for internal candidates).
• Must be able to work the scheduled, assigned times and required overtime for the position.
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
• Pass road test.
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
• 1+ years Foodservice distribution industry experience preferred.
• Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e., PeopleNet) preferred.
