STANDARD HOURS PER WEEK: 40 (School year hours - 2:00pm-10:30pm Summer and break hours vary)

About the role

Custodians play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, security, and basic maintenance of a school or district building. Evening shifts are available during the work week.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, security, and basic maintenance of a school or district building.
• Perform general cleaning tasks, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
• Handle chemicals safely and according to established procedures.
• Ensure the building is safe and secure, reporting any issues to appropriate personnel.
• Assist with routine maintenance tasks as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• No prior experience required; experience in general cleaning, chemical handling, and customer service is preferred.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-hire, post-offer, physical examination.

Skills

• Attention to detail.
• Physical stamina for lifting and moving materials.
• Customer service skills.

Pay

All Classified positions are paid on an hourly basis. New hires are placed initially on Step 1 of the pay grade for their position. Employees can advance up to 7 additional steps (maximum Step 8) based on their previous experience. Final hourly placement on the Classified Salary schedule is dependent on the Grade Level for the position being posted.
