Night Crew Supervisor
About the Role
The Night Crew Supervisor supports the Night Crew Manager in directing overnight stocking, merchandising, inventory management, and store recovery operations. This position helps ensure merchandise is stocked efficiently, store presentation standards are maintained, safety procedures are followed, and overnight associates perform at a high level. The Night Crew Supervisor assists in leading the night crew team while helping prepare the store for daily business operations.
Responsibilities
- Overnight Operations:
- Assist in overseeing nightly stocking and merchandising activities.
- Ensure freight is stocked accurately and efficiently according to company standards.
- Monitor completion of nightly workload and productivity goals.
- Verify proper product rotation and shelf replenishment procedures.
- Ensure departments are recovered and sales floors are customer-ready by store opening.
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Assist with training, coaching, and development of Night Crew associates.
- Assign tasks and provide direction to team members throughout the shift.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and productivity.
- Monitor associate performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Night Crew Manager.
- Inventory Management:
- Assist with maintaining inventory accuracy through proper stocking procedures.
- Monitor backroom organization and product storage standards.
- Identify and communicate inventory discrepancies or operational concerns.
- Support inventory control processes designed to minimize shrink.
- Ensure products are stocked according to merchandising plans and store standards.
- Store Standards & Merchandising:
- Verify shelf conditions, pricing integrity, and merchandise presentation.
- Support planogram execution and merchandising initiatives.
- Maintain clean, organized aisles, stockrooms, and work areas.
- Ensure products are displayed safely and attractively.
- Support department and store readiness for daily customer traffic.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce company safety policies and operational procedures.
- Monitor proper use of equipment including pallet jacks, balers, and stocking equipment.
- Maintain a safe and organized working environment.
- Report and address safety concerns in a timely manner.
- Support loss prevention and asset protection initiatives.
- Customer Service:
- Promote a customer-focused culture during overnight operations.
- Assist customers professionally and courteously when needed.
- Help resolve customer concerns and communicate issues to management.
- Support overall store service standards and customer satisfaction goals.
- Financial Performance:
- Assist in achieving labor and productivity goals.
- Support efficient utilization of labor resources and equipment.
- Monitor operational performance and recommend process improvements.
- Help control expenses through effective inventory management and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to department and store profitability through execution excellence.
Qualifications
- Previous grocery, retail, stocking, warehouse, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Knowledge of merchandising, inventory control, and stocking procedures preferred.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and move merchandise consistent with job requirements.
- Ability to work overnight shifts on a regular basis.
- Ability to work in varying store and warehouse environments.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
