Night Auditor - Part-time

About the role

At Catbird, the Night Auditor balances the books overnight, reconciling daily transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring the hotel is ready to start each new day with clean, accurate numbers. Even at 3 a.m., precision matters. They are an ambassador of happiness and hospitality within our hotel and with every guest interaction.

Responsibilities

• Audit, balance, and report on all food and beverage outlets (e.g., restaurants, lounges, banquets, room service) cash and credit operations, including checks, over/short figures, tally sheets, deposits, counts, house charges, promotional materials, and postings. Reset all registers to ensure accurate, timely information.
• Audit, balance, post, and report on the front desk, including room charges, phone calls, zero balance folios, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, over/short figures, and deposits to ensure accuracy and verify proper cash handling procedures.
• Audit, balance, and prepare room information to provide rooms management with performance insights. Prepare and input statistics and income journal sheets for daily reports.
• Balance and close all bank ticket codes daily.
• Run the night audit final after ensuring all revenues are in balance nightly.
• Greet and complete check-in procedures for arriving guests using both manual and computerized methods.
• Facilitate guest departure (check-out) using established procedures to close guest accounts and prepare rooms for the next sale.
• Maintain good customer relations by staying informed about in-house and area functions to answer questions and concerns promptly.
• Operate PBX equipment, including handling incoming/outgoing calls, scheduling wake-up calls, and paging guests.
• Perform Front Desk Clerk duties, including express checkouts.
• All other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• ABT (Alcohol Beverage Training) Certification.
• Accounting background preferred but not required.

Skills

• Ability to operate personal computers, cash registers, and calculators.
• Ability to compile facts and figures.
• Strong telephone and guest relations etiquette and skills.
• Moderate hearing required for guest communication.
• Excellent vision for viewing CRT screens.
• Excellent speech communication skills for telephone interactions.
• Excellent comprehension and literacy for reading reports and numbers.

Physical Demands

• 90% of the shift is spent standing.
• Repeated bending and kneeling required for filing.
• Must be able to reach all areas of the hotel to assist clients.
• Prolonged standing.
• Occasional carrying and lifting of files and office items up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment

• Prolonged standing at an indoor, thermostatically climate-controlled workstation under fluorescent lighting.
• 95% of work is conducted indoors.
