FanSided, part of the Minute Media family, operates over 300 websites covering sports, entertainment, and lifestyle topics. This role supports our network of 33 NHL sites by delivering breaking news, unique analysis, and fan-centric perspectives on teams.
Responsibilities
- Write timely, high-quality NHL content including breaking news, analysis, game coverage, and feature stories.
- Produce 120-150 pieces of written content per month (500-700 words each) across 33 NHL sites.
- Develop story ideas, angles, and headlines to share with freelance writers in the division.
- Maintain FanSided editorial standards, voice, and best practices for all published content.
- Use data and editorial guidance to refine story selection, headlines, and overall impact.
- Coach and support team site contractors to improve quality and growth across the division.
Requirements
- 1–3+ years of experience writing about the NHL.
- Strong understanding of hockey culture, primarily focused on the NHL.
- Engaging, casual writing voice (not AP tone).
- Knowledge of SEO, audience reach, and growth strategies.
- Organized, communicative, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced, content-heavy schedule.
- Collaborative attitude and experience working with editors, writers, and contractors.
- Drive to create high-quality short- and medium-form content in the NHL digital media space.
- Confidence engaging with fans on social media, comments, and live chats while representing the brand.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and during peak NHL news cycles.

- Creating short-form vertical content for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Reels.

Pay
Expected salary range: $50,000 - $55,000 annually. Actual pay determined by skills, experience, and location.
Schedule
Remote position. May require occasional nights and weekends during the NHL season and key offseason events.
