NGS Laboratory Specialist

We are seeking a self-motivated NGS Laboratory Specialist with hands-on experience in NGS-library preparation and sequencing on industry-leading platforms, particularly Illumina. The ideal candidate should have a robust background in molecular/cell biology and genetics, coupled with the ability to design and execute experiments using molecular technologies. Familiarity with automated workflows and systems such as Perkin-Elmer liquid handlers is highly desirable, as well as developed skills in protocol development and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Interact with team members, Senior Manager, and Project Managers to ensure seamless project execution.
• Prepare and sequence next-generation sequencing (NGS) libraries.
• Possess foundational knowledge of molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, PCR, and microarray.
• Support team leads and junior technicians in timely project execution.
• Implement and help maintain quality control processes.
• Ensure associated instruments are in optimal working order and manage supply and consumable maintenance.
• Maintain laboratory records in compliance with company guidelines.
• Demonstrate a full understanding of laboratory requirements and SOPs.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Exhibit problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Apply effective time and project management skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology.
• At least 1 year of post-graduation molecular biology experience in an industry setting.
• Expertise in pipetting, PCR, and Next Generation Sequencing.
• Proven experience as a Lab Technician or in a relevant position.
• Experience in operating both electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and database management.

Skills

• Experience working with Biosafety cabinets.
• Troubleshooting experience in a lab environment.
• Experience in qPCR, sequencing, analyzing sequencing data, and human iPSC cell culture.

About the role

The role involves working in a biobanking, bioprocessing, and analytics setting established since 1999. Candidates will handle incoming samples such as DNA, blood, stool, and urine. This position contributes to the organization's standing as the first FDA-approved entity for saliva testing during the pandemic, making significant contributions to the health crisis.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
