NGM - Safety & Health Trainer (Underground Training Mine)

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the creation and execution of training programs with a Competency-Based approach.
  • Facilitate classroom, field-based, and simulator training sessions on various equipment, tasks, and procedures.
  • Ensure employees possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes to perform their tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct Verification of Competency assessments for individuals at the site.
  • Create and maintain accurate training records in compliance with MSHA regulations and NGM standards.
  • Train new miners, experienced miners, conduct hazard identification, and task-specific training courses.
  • Operate the truck simulator and facilitate physical truck training.
  • Participate in aligning site initiatives or mandates including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Training Manuals.
  • Engage in line-out meetings and mentor crew and site trainers as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of heavy equipment operation in the mining industry or similar heavy industry experience.
  • One (1) year of training experience.
  • Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (preferred).
  • Proven experience working with peer groups and focus teams (preferred).
  • Ability to drive results and ensure completion of time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership, influencing skills, and promotion of safety by leading by example.
  • Proven safe work record.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and confidently present data to promote learning for individuals in the program.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Effective time management to organize and prioritize a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Willingness to cross-train in other functions within Safety, Health and Training, and Operations.
  • Capability to multi-task, self-manage, and self-motivate.
  • Demonstrated and maintained good attendance and performance records.

Nevada Gold Mines is growing and seeks an Underground Training Mine Trainer/Assessor to join our team. This role involves assisting in the development and implementation of training programs, facilitating various training sessions, conducting assessments, and ensuring safety and efficiency in the workplace. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of heavy equipment operation experience and one year of training experience. Excellent communication, leadership, and safety skills are essential, along with a proven safe work record and ability to adapt training techniques to different learning styles.
