Responsibilities
- Follow the organization's HS&E policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate
- Collect geological data through mapping, sampling, logging of RC and core drilling, and other field activities under limited supervision
- Assist with grade control, exploration, resource definition, or production geology programs as assigned
- Support drilling programs by assisting with planning, field supervision, sampling, and data collection
- Compile, enter, and validate geological, sampling, and drilling data using established procedures and databases
- Perform basic QA/QC checks on geological, sampling, and assay data under guidance
- Use geological software and databases to enter, review, and retrieve data, including drillhole data entry and model interrogation
- Aid in the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly reports related to geology, drilling, production, or exploration activities
- Support reconciliation and data review activities by compiling and organizing required information
- Provide geological information to engineering, operations, and other departments as directed
- Resolve routine technical questions by following established procedures and referring more complex issues to senior staff
- Assist with small projects or assigned tasks related to drilling, mapping, data management, or technical studies
- Work effectively as part of a team and maintain clear communication with supervisors and coworkers
- Maintain accurate field notes, records, and databases in accordance with company standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Earth Science, Geological Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in mining, exploration, geology, or related technical field work
- Basic knowledge of drilling, logging, sampling, and assaying methods
- Exposure to geological databases and mining or modeling software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Leapfrog, acQuire, or similar is preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices in field or industrial work environments
- Ability to follow established procedures and work effectively under supervision while developing technical skills
