About the role

We are looking for a Drill Supervisor, Grade Control to join our growing team at Nevada Gold Mines. The successful candidate will lead the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of grade control drilling activities, working closely with Mine Operations, Geology, Maintenance, Technical Services, and contractor partners. This role ensures drilling programs align with production priorities, operational plans, and quality standards while fostering a culture of safety, operational excellence, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily grade control drilling activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution in support of production plans.
  • Lead and develop drill crews through hands-on coaching, training, and competency development to build workforce capability and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and company requirements while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Coordinate drilling priorities, equipment utilization, contractor performance, and resource allocation to meet operational objectives.
  • Monitor drilling quality, sample integrity, productivity, and data accuracy to support reliable grade control and mine planning decisions.
  • Track performance metrics, prepare reports, and communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations to site leadership.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies, procedures, and best practices while ensuring workforce readiness through effective training programs.
  • Collaborate with Geology, Mine Operations, Maintenance, and Technical Services teams to optimize drilling outcomes and achieve business objectives.
  • Deliver structured onboarding, field instruction, and ongoing skills development for drill operators and supervisors.
  • Assess workforce competencies, identify skill gaps, and implement training plans to improve safety, productivity, and technical proficiency.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, standard work practices, and continuous learning across the drilling organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of site and departmental goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred.
  • At least seven (7) years of reverse circulation drilling experience preferred.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory and training experience in the drilling industry preferred.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of surface RC drilling operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving excellence in safety leadership, fostering a proactive safety culture, and Zero Harm required.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate daily drilling activities in an active operational environment preferred.
  • Experience supervising grade control and exploration drilling activities to achieve production, safety, and quality objectives preferred.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate daily and weekly drilling schedules in line with mine planning and business priorities preferred.
  • Knowledge of drilling productivity, equipment utilization, and operational performance, with the ability to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities preferred.
  • Ability to monitor drilling consumables, spare parts, and critical inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels to support uninterrupted operations preferred.
  • Experience coordinating the ordering and replacement of drilling consumables and equipment in accordance with operational requirements preferred.
  • Ability to monitor operational costs, resource utilization, and drilling performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and minimize waste preferred.
  • Experience supervising drilling contractors and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and performance expectations preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and mine reporting systems, with the ability to prepare reports, track drilling performance, and maintain accurate records preferred.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and communicate drilling performance, equipment status, and production progress to stakeholders preferred.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with Operations, Geology, Survey, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and contractor personnel preferred.
  • Working knowledge of geological models, orebody characteristics, and drilling plans sufficient to support the safe and effective execution of grade control and exploration drilling programs preferred.
  • Strong understanding of drilling QA/QC, sample integrity, and compliance with company standards and operational procedures preferred.
