Ngambay Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Ngambay-English phone interpreter to work from home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally
• Render accurate and concise interpretations of conversations between Ngambay and English speakers
• Adapt to various industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law
• Maintain professionalism and neutrality during interpreting sessions
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours
• Follow client instructions and maintain confidentiality
• Provide culturally sensitive and diverse interpreting services
• Be prepared to handle emotionally and/or stressful calls

Requirements

• Fluency in Ngambay and English
• Cultural competency and understanding of regional accents
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills
• Ability to remain calm and neutral during sensitive calls
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred
• Adaptable to LLS technology enhancements
• Age 18 or older
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and write Ngambay and English

• Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard and mouse
• Ability to lift up to 26 lbs
