NFL Youth Flag Football Head Referee (Contract Role)
Next Level Sports Club, LLC (NLSC) is an official NFL Flag Football league headquartered in Bridgewater, MA, serving the South Shore (Plymouth County), Southeastern (Bristol County), and surrounding communities. As one of the fastest-growing youth sports programs in the region, we are committed to creating high-quality, character-building experiences for both youth and adult participants.
About the role
As a Head Referee, you will officiate NFL Flag Football games in accordance with the official NFL Flag rulebook. You will also play a key leadership role on the field by modeling professionalism, fairness, and fun. This is a seasonal, part-time independent contractor position, ideal for an experienced person who has an interest in youth development, leadership, and sports, particularly flag football. This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with athletes of all ages and skill levels.
Responsibilities
- Officiate NFL Flag Football games professionally and consistently
- Mediate and resolve conflicts on the field in real-time
- Communicate clearly with coaches, players, fans, and staff
- Interpret and enforce NFL Flag Football rules
- Set up and break down the field before/after games
- Ensure playing areas are safe and clean
- Support in ad hoc tasks as needed
- Train and supervise Jr. Referees
Requirements
- Must possess strong leadership and communication skills
- Strong interest in sports, especially football
- Reliable, punctual, and enthusiastic
- Comfortable working with children and adults
- Ability to manage high-pressure situations and resolve conflicts calmly
- Must commit to the full season (minimal to no absences without prior notice)
- Must be a 1099 Independent Contractor and provide a completed W-9 form upon hiring
- Must adhere to the code of conduct of Next Level Sports Club
- Responsible for your own transportation and punctual attendance
- Must complete NFL Flag Officiating Training Program
- Must complete Concussion Training Certification (Free Training) - National Federation High School Sports (NFHS) Learning Center
- Proper attire required: Black pants or black shorts and sneakers (Referee shirts will be provided; no attire with print other than Next Level Sports Club, LLC logos)
Qualifications
- Experience in youth sports, coaching, or customer service is a plus but not required (training will be provided)
Pay
$25–$35 per hour, based on experience
Schedule
- Seasons: Spring (April through June) & Fall (September through November)
- Locations: Edward J. O’Donoghue Middle School – 166 Mt. Prospect St., Bridgewater, MA 02324 or Norton Middle School, 215 W. Main Street, Norton, MA 02766
- Must be available for trainings and ongoing professional development as needed
