This position supports the creation of high-quality video content for live cable news broadcasts. The ideal candidate is efficient, creative, detail-oriented, and comfortable working under daily news deadlines. Flexible availability that includes early weekend mornings, weekday evenings, and holidays is required. This position requires membership in IBEW Local 1212 and is based at 220 E. 42nd St, New York, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Listen to director’s commands and react swiftly and accurately to correctly position and frame shots, including the X/Y axis and balancing the camera.
  • Perform physical tasks, including carrying and wearing up to 50 lbs of combined equipment for extended periods.
  • Execute smooth on-air camera moves.
  • Operate broadcast equipment within assigned area, including setup, programming, and troubleshooting the Steadicam system and maintenance of vests and related equipment.
  • Train others or create training documentation as needed.
  • Communicate and document effectively and concisely with the team.
  • Maintain self-sufficiency and a "press-on-regardless" attitude.
  • Work all day parts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) with overtime as situations demand.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in a fast-paced live television environment.
  • Proficiency with Steadicam systems.
  • Ability to carry and wear up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
  • Strong collaborative skills, ability to multitask, and problem-solving in a team environment.
  • Self-sufficient with a "press-on-regardless" attitude.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field preferred.

Pay

$95–$105 per hour.
