NewsNation Scheduling Coordinator (Part Time)

Position Summary

NewsNation is seeking a Part-Time Scheduling Coordinator to assist in facilitating crew, control rooms, and studios scheduling for our network headquarters in Chicago for live and pretaped programming.

Responsibilities

• Helping develop and maintain master schedules for control room and studio crews
• Allocating shifts based on availability and skill requirements in a 24/7 breaking news environment
• Handling sick calls, PTO/vacation requests, and last-minute scheduling changes
• Rapidly responding to employee absences and callouts by locating and securing qualified crew replacements
• Notifying employees of their schedules, communicating last-minute changes, and serving as a point of contact for staff availability inquiries
• Confirming all crew have arrived for their shifts and are in position
• Participating in daily check-ins with operations management and scheduling meetings

Qualifications

• 3 years of scheduling experience, preferably in a live television or video production environment
• Familiarity in operating in a union-represented workplace, understanding the nuances of represented employee scheduling
• The ability to multitask, be incredibly detail oriented, and organized will be key to success in this position
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work both individually and in a team environment
• Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Experience with WhenToWork or other scheduling programs a plus
