About the Role

A new independent news outlet covering the people and issues shaping the Democratic Party is hiring a part-time newsletter writer (or more than one) ahead of its September launch. The daily newsletter is at the center of the outlet's coverage, going out four days per week. The publication is founder-funded and reader-supported, with no affiliation to any party committee, campaign, or advocacy organization.

Responsibilities

• Writing and producing the newsletter on assigned mornings
• Determining the most important stories in Democratic politics each day and explaining what they mean
• Turning ratings, polling, and data into recurring newsletter sections
• Integrating the work of reporters and columnists into the newsletter

Qualifications

• A distinct writing voice, sustained on deadline
• Working knowledge of politics and the ability to explain it to a general audience
• Familiarity with campaign finance data and public records
• Consistency and reliability for a four-day-per-week publishing schedule
