About the Role

FOX 12, Portland, Oregon's #1 news station, is seeking a dynamic, high-level News Reporter to gather news for broadcast, web, and other platforms. This reporter will primarily contribute to the station's 6.5-hour top-rated morning newscast, Good Day Oregon.

Responsibilities

• Gather, write, and deliver news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Appear on-air and coordinate live shots.
• Develop sources within the community to gain unique, "Only On" insights and reports on important and impactful issues.
• Pitch leadable and/or original story ideas daily.
• Employ strong research skills and critical thinking to dig beyond press releases and confirm news tips from email or social media.
• Work with a sense of immediacy, both independently and as part of a team, while maintaining sound news judgment and ethics.
• Fill in as an anchor when needed.
• Drive for business needs; a valid driver's license and clean driving record (MVR) are required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of two years' experience as a General Assignment Reporter in a television newsroom.
• Willingness to work long hours and overtime.
