About the role

KTAZ Telemundo in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Multimedia News Producer to create news content for both traditional broadcast and new media audiences. This role involves coordinating and executing newscasts, special programs, and digital content.

Responsibilities

  • Produce daily newscasts, special coverage, in-depth stories, and other news-related content for broadcast and online platforms.
  • Select, assign, write, and organize stories in the rundown, including headlines, cold opens, teasers, and reporter lead-ins.
  • Serve as a key communicator in the newsroom, coordinating with team members for newscast content.
  • Design newscasts to deliver the most relevant content while adhering to NBC/Telemundo journalism standards.
  • Coordinate with control room staff and field crews to execute live, fast-paced newscasts, including live shots and satellite remotes.
  • Respond to breaking news promptly and manage time effectively under pressure.
  • Stay informed about daily news events, historical context, and the Latino audience in Arizona.
  • Plan and develop community and social stories.
  • Shoot, edit, and publish video clips for broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Publish content across web, mobile, and social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with producers, the Executive Producer, Managing Editor, and News Director on story planning, sweeps, and talent coaching.
  • Contribute story ideas and participate in editorial meetings.
  • Bring creativity to newscasts and leverage Telemundo’s tools to maximize viewer engagement.
  • Complete discrepancy reports accurately to prevent future issues.
  • File additional reports related to newscast production.
  • Adhere to Telemundo News standards and ethics.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Spanish and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • 2 to 4 years of News Producer experience.
  • Strong news judgment, creative ideas, and writing skills.
  • Unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, weekends, nights, and emergencies.
  • Willingness to work in the Phoenix area and travel for special assignments.
  • Ability to work long hours and varying shifts as needed for news coverage.
