Telemundo Arizona seeks an individual with a comprehensive understanding of television news production, outstanding writing and verbal communication skills, and on-camera live reporting. Responsibilities

  • Manage shooting, writing, and editing daily stories, and gather material to contribute to building the rundown.
  • Set up, run, and manage live shots independently.
  • File stories for OTT (Over the Top) platforms.
  • Write, produce, and present fair and accurate news and feature stories for television, online, and digital platforms.
  • Keep informed on local and national news events.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts to supply access to exclusive stories.
  • Investigate information to verify facts and uncover the truth.
  • Handle on-air news in the studio and frequent field shoots.
  • Draft stories, headlines, and news updates for multiple platforms.
  • Present newscasts and breaking news professionally during live and outside regularly scheduled broadcasts.
  • Stay updated on current events and news in Arizona.
  • Assist the producer in setting up sources, executing enterprise news investigations, and maintaining a strong list of story ideas year-round.
  • Send daily emails to the assignment desk with at least three enterprise story proposals.
  • Make phone calls to set up interviews, which may occur outside regular working hours.
  • Work nights and weekends as required.
  • Collaborate as a team member under tight daily deadlines.
  • Gather news information for presentation on newscasts and digital platforms.
  • Participate in community and station events as an emcee or host when requested.
  • Respond quickly to breaking news and take direction from the assignment desk, producers, reporters, anchors, and production personnel.
  • Maintain technical equipment, including cameras and lighting gear, in optimal condition.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of experience shooting with HD Cam.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with film or video lighting.
  • Minimum three years of experience as a reporter in a Spanish top 10 broadcast television market.
  • Flexibility concerning scheduling and assigned work shifts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and web-based programs.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of the current broadcast and digital media landscape.
  • Ability to ad-lib and improvise effortlessly in diverse on-air situations.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required for written and verbal communication; a prominent level of skill and proficiency in Spanish is essential.
  • Excellent driving record and active driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work weekends with short notice; night and weekend work is frequent.
  • Must be willing to work in Phoenix, AZ.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Position requires traveling.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Dalet, iNews, and non-linear editing systems.
  • Camera operation and proficient lighting and editing skills.
  • Elevated level of motivation with a strong belief in creative ideas and the confidence to express them.
