News Producer
Fox Television Stations owns and operates 29 full-power broadcast television stations in the U.S., including stations in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas (DMAs) and duopolies in 11 DMAs, such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Of these, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. The stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news weekly and leverage demand for FOX Network’s national content.

WFLD FOX Chicago is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and innovative producer to join a team with a start-up mentality. The ideal candidate is curious, intellectually engaged, and focused on developing engaging conversational streaming concepts rather than traditional scriptwriting. You’ll need a strong sense of timing, the ability to think quickly, and a deep understanding of what interests Chicago audiences. Willingness to take risks and embrace failure as part of the creative process is essential.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and gather ideas for local Chicago stories that matter to our community.
- Source video content and manage editing workflows.
- Utilize strong writing skills to craft compelling, unique content for digital and linear streams.
- Ensure newscasts run smoothly while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Engage users on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat, and emerging platforms.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a producing role.
- Experience line producing is highly desirable.
- Experience developing and publishing content, including news, on digital and social platforms.
- Proficiency with various software platforms and ability to learn quickly.
- Originality and creativity in presentation and delivery.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage tight deadlines and respond well to direction.
- Outstanding news judgment and commitment to factual accuracy.
- Reliability and willingness to work flexible hours.
Pay
The pay range for this role is $82,000–$90,000 annually, with the final offer dependent on education, skills, experience, and location.
