News 12 Sr. Special Projects Producer Editor - Freelance

About the role

News 12 is looking for a creative, driven, and experienced Freelance Senior Special Projects Producer/Editor to join the News 12 Team. This individual will play an important role in both the development and execution of the network's programming and strengthening its brand, focusing on producing, shooting, and editing multi‑platform, audience‑driven long‑form content. The role will handle multiple projects with the Originals team and partner directly with the News and Marketing teams to ensure creative vision for all content is realized and furthers the network’s mission.

Responsibilities

• Create multi‑platform (linear, OTT, digital, social) audience‑driven content using compelling video and sound that maintains the voice of the network.
• Develop and produce both small‑ and large‑scale shoots from pre‑production through post‑production and delivery while adhering to established budget.
• Participate actively in the storytelling process, including developing story ideas, researching, and planning segments.
• Innovate new ways to produce and deliver content to viewers.
• Capitalize on material from multi‑camera shoots, including DSLR cameras, iPhones, GoPro video, and various other formats to elevate storytelling.
• Coordinate and collaborate with multiple departments—news, programming, and marketing—to meet deliverable deadlines and expectations.
• Adapt to ever‑changing industry technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Mass Communications, related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of videography, producing, and editing experience in broadcast or cable television.
• Strong proficiency with production equipment and editing software, including DSLR cameras, Adobe Premiere/Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, audio mixing/recording systems, and graphics integration.
• Knowledge of production and post‑production techniques.
• Excellent organizational, project management, and time‑management skills; ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize without jeopardizing deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive and problem‑solve in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Technical proficiency with PCs and Macs.
• Experience with Electronic News Production Systems (ENPS) preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds for extended periods and move quickly while carrying equipment.
• Drone pilot experience/licensing is a plus.

Pay

Competitive salary ranging from $57,802.00 to $94,960.00 per year, based on skills and experience.
