MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform, adhere to, and implement all Herschend Enterprises’ Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Service Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest service operation.
  • Lead a team of 4 to 9 people (depending on the season).
  • Responsible for the supervision of souvenir photography processes and hosts.
  • Aid in developing and monitoring a highly motivated, positive, and productive team.
  • Assist in evaluating and training all souvenir photography hosts.
  • Implement new policies and procedures when needed.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping involving hosts and daily events.
  • Handle comments, concerns, and suggestions from hosts and guests regarding the guest experience.
  • Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and special events/promotions to properly notify and inform guests.
  • Work with other hosts and departments to ensure effective communication.
  • Provide on-boarding and ongoing training to hosts to maintain knowledge of aquarium activities and operations.
  • Perform opening and/or closing duties.
  • Ensure PCI compliance.
  • Daily ensure that: Hosts are knowledgeable on location and the functions of position.
  • Participate in the basic functions of photography, providing professional and courteous customer service, preparing photos, taking photos, etc.
  • Assist guests in capturing, selecting, and purchasing souvenir photos; successfully complete credit/debit transactions.
  • Maintain proper break schedule for team members as prescribed in team member handbook.
  • Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Prior point of sale experience required.
  • Prior photography experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is a plus.
  • Strong public speaking skills the ability to read, write and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages is a plus).
  • Ability to think clearly, react quickly, and calmly to changes and/or emergency situations.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Previous guest service or retail experience preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and/or weekends and holidays.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time, ascend and descend floors, bend, reach, and stoop.
  • Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
