Job Duties
- Coordinates care and follow-up for positive and non-positive Newborn Screening referrals, including inadequates, incompletes (initial and recall specimens), optional TPN-related follow-up, optional hemoglobin follow-up, transfusion verification, and early-collection cases.
- Interprets State regulations, policies, and procedures for perinatal facilities and providers to ensure compliance.
- Serves as team leader for facility site visits in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties.
- Affords educational needs of assigned facilities.
- Manages data across multiple systems (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and word-processing platforms).
- Contributes narrative and statistical content to quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc State reports.
- Provides in-services, presentations (including virtual), and training for healthcare professionals, community agencies, and parent/public groups.
- Develops and implements quality improvement and corrective action plans for assigned facilities.
- Contributes to the development and execution of the annual education plan and State quality improvement projects.
Job Qualifications
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in newborn screening, public health, or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data management systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply state regulations and policies.
- Proficiency in English, including written and verbal communication.
Benefits
The position offers a salary range of $70,900.00 - $145,200.00 annually, depending on experience.
