About the Program

My List is one of the New York Times Learning Network’s annual writing contests for students up to 17 years old. Participants create an original list—such as “10 reasons why…”, “My 5 songs for…”, etc.—on any topic, inspired by the NYT’s My List column. The best entries are published on the New York Times website, one of the world’s most-read media outlets. The contest is free, fully online, and accepts international participants. Publishing in the NYT at ages 15–17 is an extraordinary achievement.
