Key job responsibilities

  • Lead reliability assessments and design reviews for new automation and robotics technologies, identifying gaps in maintainability, serviceability, and reliability and working with development teams to resolve them before deployment.
  • Define and maintain reliability standards, maintenance strategies, and serviceability requirements — updating them as new technology types reveal gaps.
  • Conduct FMEA, reliability modelling, and life cycle cost analysis, working with development teams on design improvements and tracking MTBF, MTTR, availability, and maintainability KPIs.
  • Partner with engineering teams, vendors, and stakeholders to represent RME reliability requirements during design, pilot, and full-scale rollout phases.
  • Develop preventive maintenance programs, spare parts strategies, and maintenance documentation for new technologies.
  • Investigate equipment failures and performance degradation to identify root causes, drive solutions with development teams, and update standards to prevent re-occurrence across the network.
  • Monitor reliability performance metrics, identify recurring issues, and drive improvements back into standards and readiness criteria.
  • Identify where maintenance processes are overly complex or inconsistent, and drive simplification through updated standards and common requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent engineering science, or 5+ years of professional experience
  • 3+ years of reliability engineering or maintenance engineering experience in manufacturing, logistics, automation, or industrial environments
  • 3+ years of experience applying reliability engineering principles including FMEA, reliability modeling, and life cycle analysis
  • Experience developing and implementing maintenance programs for complex technical systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams on technology development or integration projects
  • Experience building and evaluating system-level reliability designs for automated systems
  • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification
  • Experience in some or all of the following areas: Automated conveyor systems or controls, robotics systems, electrical and electronic principles, blueprint and electrical schematic reading, CMMS programs, preventive maintenance procedures, predictive maintenance technologies, industrial electrical, industrial controls, industrial electronics, industrial PC literacy, N.E.C
  • Experience with reliability analysis tools and methodologies (Weibull analysis, reliability block diagrams, fault tree analysis)
  • Experience with condition monitoring technologies and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Knowledge of design for reliability (DFR), design for maintainability (DFM), and design for serviceability (DFS) principles
