New Product Development Electrical Engineer
This role focuses on designing and developing electrical systems and components for a range of applications, with a strong emphasis on new product development for lighting and control products.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems, circuits, and components for various applications, with a focus on new product development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into effective electrical designs.
- Conduct testing, validation, and verification of electrical systems to ensure compliance with specifications and performance targets.
- Transition designs from prototype to manufacturing, including interfacing with vendors, creating and maintaining bills of materials (BOMs), and preparing production documentation.
- Develop and maintain firmware for various lighting and control products, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Perform component selection, schematic design and capture, and PCB layout, preferably using Altium.
- Support automotive circuit design and power electronics aspects of new products as needed.
- Provide mechanical knowledge support to ensure proper integration of electrical components into larger systems.
- Document designs, processes, test procedures, and test results for future reference and continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual responsibilities and deliverables effectively.
- Apply strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to troubleshoot design and production issues.
- Contribute to the development of microcontroller firmware in C and C++ for embedded Linux applications.
- Utilize tools such as LabVIEW for testing, measurement, or automation tasks as appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in an electrical engineering design role.
- Hands-on experience in electrical design and new product development from prototyping through to manufacturing.
- Proficiency in component selection, schematic design and capture, and PCB layout.
- Experience with PCB design tools, preferably Altium.
- Experience developing microcontroller firmware in C.
- Knowledge of automotive circuit design and familiarity with automotive product design.
- Understanding of power electronics principles and applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while effectively managing individual responsibilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
Skills
- Experience with PCB design specifically using Altium.
- Experience in new product development for lighting and control products.
- Mechanical knowledge to support integration of electrical components into larger systems.

Work Environment
This position is based onsite five days a week in a collaborative startup environment that emphasizes teamwork, innovation, and hands-on problem solving. You will work closely with engineering and cross-functional colleagues, using modern design and development tools such as Altium for PCB design, embedded C and C++ for firmware, and LabVIEW for testing and automation. The setting is fast-paced and project-driven, offering opportunities to influence product direction and see designs move from concept through to manufacturing.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year.
