New Product Design Engineer

About the role

Eaton’s Fuel and Motion Control Systems Division (AER FMC) in Jackson, MS seeks an Associate Engineer in the New Product Development department. The role involves designing and certifying hydraulic components for commercial and military aircraft, collaborating with OEMs such as Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, and others. Products include electric motorpumps, engine driven pumps, hydraulic motors, heat exchangers, and reservoirs.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering assignments including design and analysis of complex products under senior guidance.
• Establish understanding of design calculations and tools, including standardized DFSS methods.
• Assist senior engineers in preparing test procedures, specifications, and evaluating test results to determine design adequacy or required modifications.
• Monitor and direct engineering service groups (e.g., drafting, analysis) on assigned tasks.
• Prepare engineering drawings and layouts using Creo to assess operational feasibility of design changes.
• Develop design criteria for evaluation by more experienced engineers and participate in design reviews with customers.
• Drive cost reduction through analysis and engineering change proposals; investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or expected completion by December 2026.
• Eligibility to work under ITAR (U.S. person as defined by ITAR).

Preferred:

• Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
• Master’s degree.
• Co-op or engineering intern experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling and detailed drawings.
