About the Role
The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Belton Regional Medical Center is a year-long, paid program designed to transition new graduates from the classroom to professional nursing practice. The program includes:
- Advanced clinical training in a specialty area
- Monthly educational sessions
- Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor
- Skills measurement and evaluation through hands-on simulations
- Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders
- Collaborative work on an evidence-based practice project
The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with departmental and state standards. Using the "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage" nursing model, the RN Resident collaborates with medical providers and care teams to provide individualized, compassionate care while advocating for patients, families, and caregivers.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, reporting any changes in status
- Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers
- Document care administration in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient response, intervening as needed for unintended reactions
- Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate patient needs
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures using clear, non-technical language
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment
- Additional certifications may be required during employment
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing completed prior to start date (applications accepted up to 6 months in advance)
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the State of Missouri within 90 days of graduation
- No previous experience required
