About the role

Join Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital, a Magnet‑recognized facility, and provide stellar patient care on the 9 Surgical Unit—a 16‑bed unit known for its family atmosphere and positive work environment. As an RN you will interact directly with patients, families, and visitors, enhancing their experience and delivering healthcare education from admission through discharge.

Responsibilities

• Assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care to surgical and post‑surgical adult patients.
• Participate in a residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and revise priorities for patient care based on acuity, patient preference, and resource availability.
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate corrective actions.
• Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document care accurately in patients’ medical records.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
• New graduate or less than one year RN work experience, or RN transitioning from a non‑inpatient setting to acute direct‑care with less than one year acute direct‑patient‑care experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients; manual and finger dexterity; eye‑hand coordination.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours; exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
• Medium work: exerting 20–50 lb occasionally, 10–25 lb frequently, or up to 10 lb constantly.
• Use of personal protective equipment and adherence to Standard Precautions as required.

Pay

Hourly range: $35.50 – $55.60 (for new hires). Actual compensation will consider work history, experience, skill set, and education. The range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.

Schedule

Night shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.
