New Grad RN Resident - Cardiac ICU
About the Role
Join Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, a Magnet Hospital awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, recognized for professional nursing practice. The Kemper Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is a 14-bed ICU providing 24/7 monitoring for patients with heart diseases, including chest pains, heart attacks, and life-threatening irregular heart rhythms. Caregivers collaborate with the Department of Cardiology and Invasive Cardiology team, participate in the Code Crimson team, respond to rapid responses and Code Blue alarms, and assist in monitoring patients receiving moderate sedation procedures like transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and cardioversions.

Schedule
Night shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs
- Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach
- Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability)
- Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent risk
- Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently
- Document in patients’ medical records
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- If in a Critical Care area, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through AHA must be presented upon hire or within the first year of hire
- New grad or less than one year of RN work experience, or if an experienced RN moving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year of current acute direct patient care RN experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements
- Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
- Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Pay
Pay range for new hires: $35.50 – $55.60 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
