About the role
The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at Doctors Hospital of Augusta is a year-long paid program designed to assist you in transitioning from a student nurse to a registered nurse. This program includes advanced clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training, simulation evaluations, mentoring, and participation in an evidence-based practice project.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s).
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Administer prescribed medications.
- Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate and resolve their needs proactively.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about patient medical condition, treatment plan, medications, and possible side effects, and follow-up measures.
- Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Other certifications may be required during employment.
- A basic nursing degree from an accredited nursing program.
- A current Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse in the State.
- No previous experience is needed.
- Some travel may be needed for training.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Other certifications may be required during employment.
